     1.   Description of the Technology.

UCI Manufacturing (Accredited with ISO 9001 & 14001) dedicates itself to the design and manufacture of a wide range of Workstation and Partition solutions for the Corporate World.

UCI Manufacturing specialises in the customisation of the workspace to meet the needs of the individual and/or team. The Aero² product range offers a wide range of workstation customisable solutions for the small or large office environment.

     2. The Products

Please note that the tabletop needs to be comprised of GECA certified board in order to comply to the requirements of the Good Environmental Choice Licence. The Aero² tabletop can be specified with any board, however only certified board must be used in order to receive the benefits of the Good Environmental Choice Licence as well as the relevant points under the Green Building Council Rating Tool for workstations.

Environmental Requirements	Core Environmental Performance Characteristics
Fitness for Purpose	The Aero2 product line as achieved the Australian design Mark award. The product is backed by a ten year warranty and In addition to these factors an examination of an Aero2 workstation during site assessment also confirms compliance to this criterion.
Controversial Timber Sources	The panel board used in the UCI Manufacturing Aero2 Product range is EO range of panel boards and Compact Laminate or other product sourced from the Laminex Group. These product lines have already been certified by the Good Environmental Choice Program (Licence Number LA – 2005: GEC)
Treatment	The panel board used in the UCI Manufacturing Aero2 Product range is EO range of panel boards and Compact Laminate or other product sourced from the Laminex Group.
Air Emissions Limit 0.36 mg/m3	The panel board used in the UCI Manufacturing Aero2 Product range is EO range of panel boards and Compact Laminate or other product sourced from the Laminex Group these are certified products with GECA.
Overall Loads	There are two powder coating products used in the Aero2 product range; Dulux Duralloy (272 line) and Cryscoat 747LTS for powder coating the metal components of the workstations.  Review of MSDS for these confirms compliance to this criterion of the Standard.
Formaldehyde Emissions	The material characteristics of the product line demonstrate that when certified Laminex board will be used the final product will fall well below these limits and will not need to be tested. This was also confirmed by a review of MSDS for the cleaning solution used on the Aero2 workstation range
Chemical Additives	Review of MSDS of powder coatings and a review of chemicals in use during a site assessment concludes that none of the chemicals used in the manufacturing of Aero2 product line emit carcinogenic substances.
Prohibited Substances	A statement from David James- Development manager Dulux Powder coatings confirms Dulux Duralloy does not contain the above substances. There are no other chemicals applied in the manufacturing process that need to be assessed under this criterion.
Separability	There does not appear to be any technical barrier to the disassembly of the Aero2 workstation, this was confirmed during a site assessment on the 16th of June 2006 at the Melrose Park SA plant.
Product Custodianship	UCI Manufacturing have an established product custodianship policy and have put the system in place to implement this policy throughout Australia.
Coatings/Treatments	There is no coating treatment applied to the Aero2 workstation range that would prevent recycling.

        3. Environmental and Social Regulatory Obligations:

 

GECA also found the range to be fully compliant with their obligations under Labour, Anti-Discrimination, and Safety Regulations. The company has not been the subject of prosecution in relation to compliance with labour, anti- discrimination, safety regulations and environmental regulations.
